The name has survived longer than the people who gave it, now attached to one of California's largest and least-visited wilderness areas. The Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness sprawls across nearly 180,000 acres of rugged terrain where the southern Klamath Mountains collide with the Inner Coast Ranges, protecting the headwaters of five rivers and harboring the westernmost stand of quaking aspen in North America.
