In the Sol Duc River valley, deep within Olympic National Park, geothermal springs push heated water to the surface through cracks in the ancient rock. Native American tribes knew about these springs long before settlers arrived, valuing them for their therapeutic properties. When word finally reached the outside world in the 1880s, it was only a matter of time before someone built a resort around them.
