Most of the world's maritime chokepoints are liabilities. The Strait of Hormuz -- the narrow passage between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula through which roughly a fifth of global oil shipments pass -- is the most consequential of them all. SOHAR Port sits just outside it. That placement is not an accident.
