Somewhere in the open water between the German coast and the British minefield her commanders were trying to thread, she struck a mine. The torpedo boat - in the same minefield, in the same instant - struck another. Both went down together. Twenty-three men disappeared with UB-22. The wreck lies on the seabed of the North Sea still.
