This is the first sign that you have reached Shai Hills Resource Reserve, a 51-square-kilometer patch of rocky savanna just 57 kilometers north of Accra. It is the closest wildlife reserve to Ghana's capital, and one of the few places near a major African city where grassland antelopes, green monkeys, and dozens of bird species share the landscape with the ruins of a civilization that predated European contact by centuries.]]></description>
