Scott - already known coast to coast as 'Death Valley Scotty,' a former Buffalo Bill trick rider who had spent the previous decade selling tall tales as ore samples - braced for the lawsuit. Instead, the millionaire decided he liked the desert, liked Scotty's company, and, eventually, liked the idea of building a Spanish-Mediterranean villa right there in Grapevine Canyon. He let Scotty take credit for it. For the next thirty years, tourists pulling up the canyon road would meet a leathery old prospector who told them, with a wink, that the whole place was his.]]></description>
