None of these labels quite fits. The Sarvestan Palace -- if palace it is -- was built during the reign of the Sasanian king Bahram V around 421-438 AD, an era when the empire was wealthy, confident, and building prolifically across Iran. Yet this structure, roughly 43 meters by 37 meters, feels less like a statement of power than a puzzle left in stone and mortar for later centuries to solve.]]></description>
