From its summit in the Serra da Cantareira, you can see the entirety of Sao Paulo spread below: twenty-two million people in an urban expanse that stretches to the horizon in every direction. The city grew around and beneath this mountain, swallowing farms and forests, but it never managed to swallow the peak itself.]]></description>
