Then Mungerannie appears, and with it something that should not exist out here, a wetland glinting green and blue in the middle of four deserts. The water comes not from rain but from a kilometre below ground, and around it has grown a refuge for birds, a thermal pool for weary drivers, and the only cold beer for hundreds of kilometres in any direction.]]></description>
