Swierstra's francolin lives only in the western highlands of Angola, and Mount Moco holds one of its last strongholds. At 2,620 meters this is the highest point in the country, a great hump of grassland rising from Huambo Province, but its true treasure is not the summit. It is the handful of green valleys folded into the slopes, where a sliver of ancient cloud forest hangs on against fire, axe, and time.]]></description>
