The water does not simply fall. It steps down, tier by tier, through four distinct cascades carved from King Leopold sandstone, each drop landing in a pool so deeply green it looks lit from below. Mitchell Falls sits in the Mitchell River National Park in one of the most isolated corners of Western Australia's Kimberley region, a place so remote that for half the year the only way to reach it is by helicopter.
