The Mausoleum of Gasr Doga was built in the first century CE for a single wealthy individual, a member of the Libyco-Punic elite who controlled the hilly farmland of the Gebel Tarhuna region. Whoever they were, they wanted the world to remember them in stone, and the world has obliged.
