A decade later it held roughly five thousand residents, a thousand new houses, a major open-pit copper mine, and the beginnings of an economic zone meant to bring manufacturing, agro-processing and hotels. That compression, from village to mining town in ten years, is the story of a lot of modern Zambia. It is also the story of the people who did the moving, and the ones who arrived.]]></description>
