From the air, the enclosed harbor looks unremarkable: breakwaters, piers, a few service buildings clustered along the eastern shore. But satellite imagery reveals what the casual observer cannot easily see -- six piers, a dry dock, various maintenance facilities, and the dark mouth of an underground submarine tunnel cut into the coastal rock. This is Jianggezhuang, also known as Submarine Base No. 1, one of the People's Liberation Army Navy's most strategically significant installations.]]></description>
