The second-largest Dark Sky Preserve on Earth encompasses 11,228 square kilometers of Rocky Mountain wilderness where light pollution regulations restrict artificial lighting, preserving views of stars that most people have never seen. On clear nights, the Milky Way arcs overhead like a river of light; planets cast visible shadows; meteor showers fill the sky with streaks. The darkness isn't absence - it's presence, the visibility of a universe that city dwellers have lost. Jasper hosts an annual Dark Sky Festival to celebrate what remains visible when humans stop blinding themselves.
