Not metaphorically, not gradually -- they jacked up 188 buildings, rolled them onto log rails, and hauled them two miles south because the iron ore beneath their foundations was too valuable to leave in the ground. The Sellers Hotel crashed off its rollers along the way, collapsing into what one witness described as 'an enormous pile of kindling.' That was 1919. The story of Hibbing, Minnesota, has always been this direct: a place where people reshape geography itself to get at what lies underneath.]]></description>
