Funneled between the mountains behind Marmari and the scatter of Petalioi islets offshore, the air accelerates as it squeezes through the gap - a Venturi effect, the same principle that makes wind whistle through a narrowing pipe. Within minutes the sea stiffens with whitecaps, sails appear, and the calm cove becomes one of the most reliable wind playgrounds in the Aegean.
