The camp was one piece of a larger machinery: Fascist Italy's campaign of ethnic cleansing against Slovenian and Croatian civilians in the territories it had annexed from Yugoslavia. It operated for barely nineteen months. In that time, it destroyed hundreds of lives and left a wound that took decades to properly acknowledge.]]></description>
