What the younger Washington got instead was smallpox, six weeks of convalescence, and an immunity that would prove invaluable when the disease swept through his Continental Army a quarter century later. The house where he allegedly recovered still stands in the Garrison district south of Bridgetown, though the question of whether it is truly the right house has become a story in itself.]]></description>
