This is Friday Harbor, the county seat of San Juan County and the only incorporated town in the San Juan Islands. It's surprisingly developed for its remoteness - coffee shops and galleries line the waterfront, kayak outfitters prep tours, and seaplanes taxi across the harbor before lifting off toward Seattle or Vancouver. Everything here runs on ferry time, the rhythms of the islands synchronized to the schedules that connect them to the world.]]></description>
