This is not the Libya most people picture. El Kouf National Park, established in 1975 on the country's northeastern Mediterranean coastline, occupies a stretch of the Jabal al Akhdar -- the Green Mountain -- where forested slopes, sheltered coves, and marine habitats support a density of life that seems to belong to a different continent entirely.
