First Officer Rathore suggested calling the flight engineer. Captain Peter Waxton said no, they could figure it out themselves. That decision, compounded by an incorrectly assembled fuel line that would starve both engines, set Dana Air Flight 0992 on a course toward the packed residential neighborhood of Iju-Ishaga. On June 3, 2012, all 153 people on board and six people on the ground would die in what remains Nigeria's deadliest commercial aviation disaster since the 1973 Kano air disaster.
