The Bullock Hotel, erected from the ashes of the devastating 1894 fire that leveled much of the town, was built by Seth Bullock, the first sheriff of Deadwood and lifelong friend of Theodore Roosevelt. What makes this hotel unique is not just its history as the oldest continuously operating hotel in Deadwood, but the persistent reports from guests and staff that Seth Bullock never truly left.
