The dam these workers built - Hoover Dam - was completed in 1936, two years ahead of schedule, creating Lake Mead and providing power and water that would transform the American Southwest. Boulder City endures as a quiet anomaly, a small town of 16,000 preserving its origins while Las Vegas sprawls 25 miles away.]]></description>
