Someone in the audience, not part of the act, decided to test the claim. The magician barely escaped with his life. This was Tombstone in the 1880s, where entertainment meant risking everything, and the line between performance and mortal danger blurred as easily as whiskey fumes in lamplight. The Bird Cage Theatre, opened on December 26, 1881, became the most notorious venue in a town already famous for gunfights at the O.K. Corral.]]></description>
