In the chaos following Germany's invasion of Norway on 9 April 1940, while much of southern Norway collapsed into occupation, Hannevig did something that should not have been possible: he stole the weapons the defenders would need. Moving through territory already under German control, he managed to extract rifles, machine guns, mortars, mines, and explosives from military depots -- right under the noses of the occupying forces -- and transport them to Vinje and Vagsli in the mountains of Telemark. There, he assembled the men who would fight what became one of the last two Norwegian stands in all of southern Norway.]]></description>
