Over the next four weeks, the Battle of Gazala would destroy much of the British Eighth Army's tank strength, hand the Axis the fortress port of Tobruk in a single day, and send the Allies reeling back into Egypt. Churchill called the news of Tobruk's fall a disgrace second only to the surrender of Singapore.]]></description>
