This stretch of veld east of the little Bronkhorstspruit stream, roughly fifty kilometres east of Pretoria, witnessed the first shots of the First Boer War on 20 December 1880 - and one of the most lopsided defeats the Victorian British Army would ever suffer.]]></description>
