      <description><![CDATA[They called him "the Pure Soul." Muhammad ibn Abdallah was noble, idealistic, and by most accounts not particularly suited for war. His younger brother Ibrahim was sharper, more capable, and the better strategist. Together, in 762 CE, they launched a rebellion against the Abbasid Caliphate from opposite ends of the Islamic world -- Muhammad from Medina in Arabia, Ibrahim from Basra in southern Iraq. Within months, both were dead. Their revolt was the last serious bid by the descendants of Ali to reclaim what they considered their stolen inheritance: leadership of the Muslim community.]]></description>
