Agios Thomas, in the Tanagra district of central Greece, is a village you visit on foot and by bicycle, not one you check into. The handful of cafes along the central road serve coffee and snacks; the streets are made for walking; and when the day winds down you drive on to Chalkida or Thiva to find a bed. What this small place lacks in lodging it makes up for in the kind of sights you stumble onto rather than queue for - a chapel by a river, a cave shrine in a park, the silent graves of an ancient town.]]></description>
