Boats that once carried gold medalists across the world's most famous regattas get pensioned off when sailing federations modernize, and the people who loved them are left with workshops full of beautiful obsolete hardware and no event to race in. The Vintage Yachting Games were invented to give those boats and those sailors somewhere to go. The first edition took place at Medemblik on the IJsselmeer in September 2008. Sixty-six sailors. Forty-seven boats. Seventeen countries. Six former Olympic classes, brought back for one week to the sort of competition they were originally designed for.]]></description>
