The world was at war, Rommel's army was pressing toward Egypt from Libya, and the British Empire had decided it could no longer tolerate an Egyptian government it did not control. What happened that night at Abdeen Palace humiliated a king, compromised a political party, and planted the seeds of a revolution that would sweep both away within a decade.]]></description>
